Hello hello!
Happy Friday – hope you have that Friday feeling! It is all pretty exciting here getting ready for another wedding at the weekend. We have also been working on a project that we will be revealing soon. Fun times!
The enquiries for 2020 are coming in thick and fast and you guys are loving our new wedding sharing board menu - which we are delighted about! Remember all of our wedding catering menus are bespoke so if you have something in particular you have in mind, do shoot us a message using our enquiry box. We would love to hear from you!
As we are in full blown wedding season we decided this weeks blog subject would be a recap about our first wedding of the season. What a beautiful start it was...
We had the pleasure of first meeting Natalie and Ben back in 2018 whilst hosting a taster session at our country barn. We provided sharing boards during the taster and it was here that Carve Your Own was born – it has been an idea in our minds for a little while and luckily for us they loved the idea as much as us.
Fast forward a year (in between lots of planning, emails and coffees together) and the big day was here. In true British fashion, the weather looked pretty wet and grey on the week leading up to Natalie and Ben’s wedding day. With hopes of the canape reception being outside in the stunning grounds of Gorwell Barn the whole of Team Fossil had their fingers tightly crossed that we could make those plans a reality. The wedding Gods were listening because when the day came, the sun was shining and it truly felt like a summer's day!
We arrived at the gorgeous Gorwell Barn and were greeted by AJ the in-house Coordinator who, as we found out throughout the day, was an absolute dream to work with! AJ knew the itinerary inside out and no job was too big or small for her – all with a smile to match (you would never of guessed it was her first day – she absolutely smashed it!). If you have not had the pleasure of visiting Gorwell Barn yet then you must if you are in the search of a wedding venue. The drive alone is simply wonderful - rolling countryside to your right hand side and an inviting ocean view of the Jurassic Coast to the left. The barn is the perfect base for a wedding with amples of space for you to put your own stamp on - and of course it comes with all the facilities you could wish for. . Natalie and Ben opted to have rustic long wooden trestle tables provided by Taddle Farm, which complimented the menu perfectly. The trestles were laid with cutlery and crockery supplied by Cudmore Hire our trusted local supplier, alongside gold beaded charger plates by Keeping It Vintage which added an extra pop of colour and beautiful detail.
The day began with our team serving canapes and fizz. We believe this time to be one of the greatest highlights to wedding days because it is always such an electric atmosphere after the ceremony, with loved ones congratulating and celebrating together with the newly weds. Practically, it is a great time to hold your couples photoshoot and family shots as guests are busily eating and drinking. Which brings us on to another supplier whom we cannot stop raving about – Sadie Osborne Photography! We will openly admit that we have been huge fans of Sadie for a little while, following her work on Instagram, but we were yet to cross paths until Natalie and Ben’s wedding. Sadie is clearly very talented in her creative work, there are no questions about that - not only does she have mad camera skills, she is also a true delight to be around with such high energy and passion. We even shared a hug at the end – now that is supplier love! Hopefully we get the pleasure of working together soon.
Next came the speeches, followed by the wedding breakfast which consisted of sharing platters for the first two courses. The starter was inspired by the surroundings of the Barn and a country British picnic feel consisting of the likes of Home Baked Sourdough, Smoked Mackerel Mousse, Rustic Homemade Sausage Rolls and amongst other pieces. Next to follow was our ‘Carve Your Own’ sharing boards - the main affair being a slow cooked smoked leg of lamb which is bang in season at this time of year, alongside a whole spatchcock organic chicken per board. These boards are designed to comfortably feed 6 guests. It was great fun when the carvers donned their chef hat and apron when prompted by Ben in his speech. To compliment this, we served an array of side dishes which gave guests the freedom of creating their very own bespoke feast. From the feedback we received it was clear that this fun, sharing approach was thoroughly enjoyed by many guests - which is always wonderful to hear! Finally, a dessert grazing table full of cakes and bakes skilfully created by N&Bs lovely friends and family finished off the days food.
A big thank you to Natalie and Ben for choosing Fossil Food Catering to cater their wedding day and trusting us to cook them their first meal as Mr and Mrs! You have truly been a pleasure to work with and it was a great privilege to cater for you. From everyone at Team Fossil we wish you all the happiness in your new adventure.
That is all from us for now, but we will be back again next Friday sharing a recipe for you all to try at home! See you soon!
Big love,
Kirsty & Steve
NB – This is our review of the first wedding this season, and for the avoidance of doubt we haven’t been paid for any part of these recommendations.
